Bulgarian state leaders congratulated the country's shot put athlete Ruzhdi Ruzhdi on winning the gold medal in the F55 category at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris Friday.

President Rumen Radev wrote on Facebook: "Congratulations on the will, perseverance and high sporting spirit of Ruzhdi Ruzhdi." He also said: "This great victory is a reason for well-deserved pride and unites all of Bulgaria."

National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan wrote in a message, quoted by the legislature's press service: "Your remarkable success brought great joy in Bulgaria and filled our nation with a sense of pride."

"I am glad that in this important competition you demonstrated to the world once again the power of the Bulgarian spirit, and by surmounting the difficulties, you reached again the highest summit in sports. I am convinced that you will be an inspiration for many young athletes, who will derive faith and hope from your achievements," Nazaryan said.
