A Bulgarian-Greek Business Forum is taking place at the Sofia headquarters of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce Industry (BCCI) on Thursday, February 27. It has been organized by the BCCI and the Bulgarian-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Expected participants include Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Communications Minister Grozdan Karadzhov, Deputy Prime Minister and Innovation and Growth Minister Tomislav Donchev and Economy and Industry Minister Petar Dilov, Greece's Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos and InvestBulgaria Agency Executive Director Mila Nenova.
The Greek business community will be represented by companies operating in trade, import-export, foods, consultancy services, electric appliances, solar energy, tourism, insurance, plastics and paper, innovation, information technology, construction, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and real estate, among other sectors.
Greece is a traditional economic partner to Bulgaria, the BCCI said. In 2023, two-way trade amounted to EUR 4,621,800,000, with Bulgarian exports to Greece standing at EUR 2,447,400,000 and Greek imports to Bulgaria at EUR 2,174,400,000. According to Bulgarian National Bank data, Greek investments in the Bulgarian economy from 1996 until 2024 totalled EUR 3,570,000,000.
Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen border-free area, completed on January 1, 2025, is already producing positive results in two-way trade and as regards the free movement of goods and people, the BCCI said.
