Speaking to journalists on Monday, Stanimir Mihaylov, who was reinstated by the Constitutional Court as governor of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), said that he has to be entered first by the Registry Agency in order to resume his powers.

In April, Parliament voted to relieve of office Stanimir Mihaylov, who had tendered his resignation on December 1.

“I am glad that justice has been restored, I am here to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court and to comply with the law,” he said. He added that he would meet with NHIF’s deputy governor and department heads to get acquainted with everything that had happened in his absence. “I will also study the transcript of the last meeting of NHIF’s Supervisory Board l to see why my contract hasn’t been signed,” he added.

Asked why he withdrew his resignation after it was previously deposited in the National Assembly, Mihaylov said that the resignations of NHIF’s governor and deputy governor were requested so that a procedure for the election of a new governor and deputy governor could be started. “However, this did not happen and the ruling coalition began to fall apart". "I withdrew my resignation because this procedure did not happen. Also, I found out that the deputy governor had also withdrawn his resignation the day before," Mihaylov said.

Mihaylov added that he has no concerns about the upcoming budget procedure, as well as the upcoming negotiations with the Bulgarian Medical Association for an annex to the National Framework Agreement.
