The Cabinet will propose to the National Assembly draft amendments to the Cybersecurity Act aiming to ensure better resilience of cyberspace and more effective measures to counter cyber attacks, the Council of Ministers' press center said on Wednesday. The new regulations are aimed at ensuring fair treatment of subjects, raising their awareness and providing reliable and effective oversight to respect their rights and legitimate interests.

The draft bill is in line with Bulgaria's commitments to introduce provisions in its national legislation and to set up an organization to implement Directive (EU) 2023/2555 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 December 2022 on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union. The transposition of the Directive and the realization of the set objectives will simplify and speed up the process of interaction and resolution of cross-border and national incidents in the European Union, which will contribute to the timely response to attacks and the reduction of their negative consequences.

It also aligns the procedure and interaction processes at local and European level by introducing a single standard incident reporting form for authorities to request assistance when needed, which will also reduce the administrative burden.
