MRF - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski said Wednesday that out of the two MRFs to register for the October 27 snap parliamentary elections only his is legitimate. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has decided Monday to accept the papers for participation in the elections from both warring factions in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), the one behind Honorary Chair Ahmed Dogan and the other behind Peevski.
The MRF - New Beginning is made up of the wing of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) supporting Delyan Peevski, the Bulgarian Voice party and the New Leaders party. Dzhevdet Chakarov of the other MRF faction told the media that his party has got registered in a coalition with two other parties - Just Bulgaria United Patriots (SBOR) and the Bulgarian Agrarian National Union. The coalition will run in the elections with the name Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (DRF), which in Bulgarian has the same аbbreviation as the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
Asked whether he would appeal to the court against the registration of the two coalitions, Peevski replied that at the moment there were no two registrations and the CEC is yet to rule on the applications. He argued that one of the applications is illegitimate, adding that the CEC has succumbed to pressure.
Peevski also commented that he would make a proposal for the introduction of a public procedure for all appointments of the head of State. He said it does not make sense that the Parliament appoints all bodies with a public procedure while President Rumen Radev does it by issuing a decree without explanations. "He appoints people directly to Russia, this is a problem for national security, I hope our agencies will react," Peevski added.
