The newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Bulgaria, Nasri Abu Jaish, presented copies of his credentials to Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov on Thursday, the Foreign Ministry said.
The two diplomats expressed their willingness to work for an invigoration of the dialogue between their countries and the development of sectoral cooperation. They want to see an update of the bilateral legal framework for all areas of shared interest. Stressing Dr Abu Jaish's rich professional experience, Kondov expressed his conviction that Bulgaria's relations with Palestine will develop at an accelerating pace during the new Ambassador's stint in Sofia.
Kondov and Abu Jaish discussed the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has been going on for more than 10 months. They paid special attention to the disastrous humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Kondov underscored Bulgaria's assistance and support to allay the suffering of the residents of the enclave.
He and his guest voiced their shared concern about the risk of the Israel-Hamas conflict acquiring regional proportions, and their hope that soon there will be a ceasefire, the hostages will be freed, and the humanitarian situation of the civilians in Gaza will be relieved.
