Bulgaria's highest ranked female tennis player Viktoriya Tomova qualified for the second round of a WTA 250 tournament in Cleveland, US, on Monday. She scored a 6-1 6-4 win over American Lauren Davis who entered the main draw with a wild card.

Tomova, 7th seed at the tournament, will meet world No. 96 Arantxa Rus from the Netherlands in her next match. In the opening round Rus defeated Lucia Bronzetti 6-3 7-6(4).

The Bulgarian is currently world No. 50. She broke a 3-game losing streak with her win over Davis.
