Bulgarian athlete Mirela Demireva Saturday won the gold in the women's high jump event  at the 28th Balkan Indoor Championships in Istanbul. She triumphed with 1.89 metres. The second and third place went to Romania's Daniela Stanciu with 1.86 m and Greece's Panagiota Dosi with 1.86 m, respectively. 

Ivo Balabanov won the silver medal in the men's 3,000 m event by finishing in 8:10.61 minutes.

Earlier on Saturday, Plamena Mitkova snagged the bronze in the women's long jump, and Bozhidar Saraboyukov finished third in the men's long jump.
