site.btaPresident to Refer Constitutional Changes to Constitutional Court
“The first thing I am going to do in the new year is to alert the Constitutional Court to the brutal and in many aspects incompetent assault on the country’s constitution,” President Rumen Radev told journalists after a water blessing ceremony of the military colours of Bulgarian armed forces.
“I will do it on Monday and then you will see my arguments because they are indeed very comprehensive,“ he said.
“We are entering 2024 with mixed emotions and half-cooked solutions – a half-constitution, half-Schengen, half-truth, a half-budget, half-reforms, half-government,” said the President. According to him when political feasting and trade with the national sovereignty become seen as a norm, the price is national dignity and Bulgarians becoming a second category of European citizens.
“The price for our apathy is our future,” said Radev. According to him 2024 will be a year of elections not only for the European Parliament but for a choice between war and peace, national humiliation and dignified European future, resignation and action.
“We’ll need faith in our own abilities and the future of Bulgaria, a will for decisive action, consolidation of efforts and restoration of justice in order to develop as a worthy European democracy,” said the head of State.
