site.btaBulgaria Triumphs at Youth Informatics Olympiad
Bulgarian teams won eight medals at the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics for Juniors (JBOI) in competition with 64 participants from 13 countries, the Ministry of Education and Science announced on Thursday. The first Bulgarian team also topped the team medal standings.
The competition, which was held remotely, took place in Strumica, North Macedonia.
In the first Bulgarian team, gold medals were taken by Simona Hristova from 10th grade of the Mathematics High School in Shumen and Andrey Stefanov from 9th grade of the First Private Mathematical High School - Sofia. Ninth graders Serkan Rashid and Ivo Ivanov of the Mathematics High School in Shumen won silver medals.
In the second Bulgarian team, Denislav Manev, student of 8th grade at the Natural-Mathematical High School in Gabrovo. Yordan Tsokanov and Boris Angelov from Sofia Highs School of Mathematics and Alexander Pendov from the Mathematics High School in Plovdiv won bronze medals.
The leaders of both teams are Ilian Yordanov from the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Dimitar Dobrev from Shumen University.
