DOST Party Leader MestanConfers with Turkish PM Davutoglu

Ankara/Sofia, April 1 (BTA) - Bulgarian DOST party leader Lyutvi Mestan has conferred with Turkish Prime Minister and leader of the Justice and Development Party Ahmet Davutoglu. The meeting took place during an official visit to Turkey of a delegation of the newly established DOST party, DOST said in a press release Friday.

During the meeting Mestan familiarized Davutoglu with the development of the political processes in Bulgaria, the events that led to the creation of DOST, and the formation's principles and goals.

Mestan also spoke about the need for strategic partnership between Bulgaria and Turkey.

The two also discussed the refugee crisis and other topical geopolitical issues. The participants in the meeting noted Turkey's role in keeping on its territory 2.7 million refugees.

Mestan conveyed Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's greetings to Davutoglu. The Turkish Prime Minister too relayed greetings to his Bulgarian counterpart. Davutoglu said, quoted in the press release, that friendly Turkey attaches priority importance to its relations with Bulgaria, both within NATO and in the area of the economic and cultural spheres.
