Sofia, November 20 (BTA) - Chief of Defence Rear Admiral Rumen
Nikolov on Thursday conferred with Montenegrin Chief of General
Staff Admiral Dragan
Samardzic, the Defence Ministry said.
The two discussed future development of bilateral military
relations and regional security and defence issues. Rear Admiral
Nikolov underscored that Bulgaria will continue to assist
Montenegro with its NATO integration and participation in NATO's
Partnership for Peace Programme. There was an exchange of
experience from participation in multinational projects under
NATO's Smart Defence initiative and EU's Pooling and Sharing
Initiative within the context of development of armed forces
capabilities.
Rear Admiral Nikolov expressed Bulgaria's support for
Montenegro's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Hailing
Montenegro's progress, he said that Bulgaria will support its
cooperation with NATO. Nikolov voiced confidence that steps
taken by Montenegro to this end are proof of its willingness to
follow its priorities and commitments to bring faster its armed
forces to conformity with NATO standards.
The two took stock of issues related to defence projects and
initiatives of mutual interest.
Later in the day, Admiral Samardzic conferred with Defence
Minister Nikolay Nenchev. PK/PP
