Petia Dimitrova, CEO of Eurobank Bulgaria AD, was unanimously re-elected Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria (ABB) for a three-year term, the ABB said Thursday. In her address to the members of the Association of Banks, Dimitrova stressed the key role of the banking sector in the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria and in explaining the benefits of adopting the single currency.

She said that ABB will implement a large-scale national communication campaign backed by the entire banking sector. In the coming years, the Association aims to develop and implement a special project, together with the responsible institutions, to develop and expand financial literacy at national level. Other priority issues that the ABB is actively engaged in the coming year are digitization of financial services and innovation in payments, improving cyber security and developing sustainable ESG policies, ABB said.

The Association also elected Peter Ruben, CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board of United Bulgarian Bank, and Nedelcho Nedelchev, CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board of Municipal Bank, as new members of the ABB Management Board for a three-year term.

Tsvetanka Mincheva, CEO and Chair of the Board of UniCredit Bulbank, remains Deputy Chairperson of the ABB Managing Board.
