The University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACG) is organizing an international Earthquake Engineering Forum 24 on the current issues in seismic engineering starting at 1:30 pm on Monday at the National Centre for Seismic Engineering (NCSE) Hall, the NCSE said.

The forum is divided into five panels and includes a PhD workshop, a scientific seminar, a scientific conference EnviroRisks 2024, a national roundtable and popular educational talks with secondary school students.

The content of the scientific papers and presentations focuses on the consequences of the devastating February 2023 earthquakes in southcentral Turkiye.

The event will be attended by experts from state and municipal structures, educational and scientific institutions, guests from Turkiye, China, Germany, North Macedonia and more.

The forum is partly funded by the National Roadmap for Science Infrastructure 2020-2027, of which the NCSE is a strategic member.

The past year 2023 will go down in history as the year of the strongest and most deadly earthquakes to hit the Balkan countries in recent history, the organisers of the forum said. The February 6 earthquakes in southern Turkiye and Syria triggered the work of various governmental, municipal and educational structures towards disaster risk reduction and earthquakes in particular.
