A 40-year-old man wanted by the Turkish authorities with an Interpol Red Notice has been detained in Sofia, the Interior Ministry said in a press release Saturday. He has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a crime in Turkiye.

The man was arrested at a hotel in downtown Sofia within an operation of the National Police on Friday. The competent prosecutor's office and the Interior Ministry's International Operational Cooperation Directorate have been informed of the case for subsequent extradition actions.

Earlier this week, another foreigner wanted with a Red Notice - a US citizen - was detained in Blagoevgrad, Southwestern Bulgaria. He was wanted by the competent judicial authorities of the United States for sexual exploitation of children and child pornography.
