The construction of an open-air parking lot at Sofia Airport Terminal 2, which will provide 1,000 new parking spaces, has begun, Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Anna Natova said at the start of the construction works on Monday. She pointed out that after the completion of this project, the long-awaited overhaul of the indoor car parking lot will begin.

"The construction will bring the total number of parking spaces to 1,800. This will ensure better service to passengers and guests at Sofia Airport," Natova said. She stressed that these projects are part of the first five-year investment plan that the concessionaire has to implement by the end of 2025, with total investments for this period amounting to BGN 143 million. "By the end of last year, the concessionaire had invested BGN 54 million, and this year's planned funds are BGN 49 million," Natova added.

 "The implementation of the planned projects will turn Sofia Airport into a modern, competitive and preferred European airport," Natova said.
