The Consul General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles Boyko Hristov presented the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy,  Josep Borrell, with a statuette symbolizing the Bulgarian alphabet, the Bulgarian diplomat said on Facebook.

The statuette is a smaller copy of the monument that the Bulgarian diaspora will place in Los Angeles under a project of the Bulgarian Foundation for Art, Culture and Education (BgFACE), created by the sculptor Broni Likomanov.

Hristov expressed his pleasure in presenting Borrell with the statuette and celebrating the Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet its significant spiritual contribution.

He recalled that the same statuette was also presented to Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass and to former deputy prime minister and foreign minister Mariya Gabriel.

The  monument to the Bulgarian alphabet, which will be erected in Los Angeles, is cast in bronze and depicts the hand of an educator holding a book turning into a bird. Below it are carved the first four letters of the alphabet.

Sculptor Broni Likomanov. graduated in Art Design at the St Luka National High School of Applied Arts and in Animated Film at the National Academy for Theater and Film Arts.  He lives in California. He worked as an artist in the animation industry for companies such as Disney, Universal, Klasky Csupo and Nickelodeon.
