Bulgarian folk dances will be featured in Oslo as the Folklore Dance Group I-HA joins the program of the international Verdenskarneval (World Carnival) for the third consecutive year, I-Ha said on social media. On June 2, the Bulgarian ensemble will lead a practical workshop in traditional Bulgarian folk dancing at Melahuset between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn basic dance steps, rhythms, and traditions characteristic of Bulgarian folklore in a beginner-friendly environment. According to the organizers, no prior experience is required, and attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and suitable dance shoes.

The World Carnival in Oslo will run from May 26 to June 7, bringing together performers and artists from nearly 50 nationalities in a celebration of global cultural diversity through music, dance, and performing arts. In addition to Bulgarian folk traditions, audiences will experience performances inspired by Colombian, Nepalese, Brazilian, and many other cultures.

The festival’s highlight will take place on June 6, when a colorful parade will move along Oslo’s central boulevard, Karl Johan Gate, followed by a gala concert at the city’s Concert Hall and open-air performances across the Norwegian capital.
